I was educated at Cambridge (BA, 1999 - 2002; MPhil 2007 - 2008; PhD 2008 - 2012), and was a Research Fellow at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge (2012 - 2013) before taking up my post in Oxford. Between degrees I served as an officer with the Royal Marines Commandos.
