Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
We are committed to the fundamental equality and dignity of all members of our community, and we would like to make the Faculty of Philosophy welcoming to everyone.
We believe that philosophy should be fully inclusive, and we aim to provide a working, learning, and social environment in which everyone is treated with respect so that we can all reach our full potential.
The Faculty's work in this area is overseen by the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee, which is chaired by the EDI Officer Dr James Studd (LMH). The Committee meets once a term before the Faculty Board meeting to which it reports.
We actively welcome input from the wider Faculty community into the ongoing work of the EDI Committee.
James holds regular EDI office hours in term time, either in-person at LMH or on Teams. If you wish to discuss EDI-related suggestions or concerns, please book an appointment by email.
You can also contact James at any time by email or you can make EDI suggestions, report EDI-related issues, or suggest works that you think would help diversify the Faculty's reading lists via the virtual EDI suggestion box. James liaises with other EDI Officers across the Humanities Division and sends regular email updates with information and resources relating to EDI.
