Early Career Work in Progress Seminar (Tuesday - Week 7, MT26)

Abstract: Like beliefs and intentions, emotions are the sorts of things we can have for reasons. When we try to make sense of this feature of emotions, however, various obstacles come into view. Emotions frequently persist in the face of contrary evaluative judgments and they are intimately tied to various bodily and physiological processes that appear arational. This talk provides an explanation of how emotions can nonetheless be responses to reasons and explores the consequences of this explanation for how we should think about the nature of emotions.
